Applicable large employers and employers that sponsor self-funded plans must furnish health coverage information forms to certain employees. This is a new requirement under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). “Applicable large employers” are employers that are subject to the ACA’s employer mandate. These employers are required to furnish a Form 1095-C to each employee that was full-time for at least one month in 2015. Small employers that sponsor self-funded plans are also required to furnish a Form 1095-B to each employee covered under the plan for at least one month on 2015. Please note small employers that sponsor full-insured plans do not have to furnish any forms in this regard.
