The Blame Game
We’ve all played the blame game at work, that game of who is at fault – you or someone else – for what isn’t right about a situation. It’s easy to play the blame game because it is embedded in our language.
“He’s not at fault.” “She didn’t have any other choice.” “So what else could they have done?” “I had to do it.”
The feelings associated with blaming and punishing are anger, depression, shame, and guilt. Not surprisingly, it can be very difficult to meet your needs when you’re assessing blame, avoiding punishment, and alternately feeling angry, depressed, ashamed or guilty.
