#1 – Send a handwritten thank you note the day after the interview.

This can include verifying your work and educational credentials, calling your professional references, and gathering the approval of management as to who they’d like to move forward with. Limit your calls or emails to once every 3 business days. This will keep you fresh in the recruiter’s mind, without being you being annoying or seeming desperate.
#3 – Use social media to connect with the recruiter.
Many recruiters are turning to social networks to source and meet candidates online. Take advantage of this by sending a connection request on LinkedIn after the interview. Post regular updates including industry relevant content to stand out to the recruiter. Then send a friendly message to indicate that you are interested in a follow-up meeting with them. Let recruiters know if you have accepted another job offer too, because they may have something better in mind for you.
#4 – Sign up for the company / recruitment firm email newsletter.
To stay on top of things going on at the recruitment agency, including new career opportunities, you will want to sign up for the company email newsletter. Oftentimes, recruiters will use this to talk about new assignments and the companies they work with. Be sure to share this newsletter with colleagues to show support, and comment by email with friendly remarks that will impress the recruiter.
